A lovely store on a not so lovely street...Clark is very, very urban. Parking was painful and there was nothing else in the area to draw me down there...thank goodness my Grandma's nursing home is down that way...I'll be stopping by this little shop on every visit!

The gentleman that co-owns (I think that's right) was a joy! Very helful and pleasant...made me feel comfortable lingering over my stamp and paper selections! I spent a whopping $84 and it was worth every penny. I mostly bought DCWV patterned paper pads. Yes, I have seen these around...but not at small shops like this one...only at the big boys and I don't spend my money in those places unless I'm getting my product for practically nothin' (SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ARTS AND CRAFT RETAILERS!!).

The samples were very nicely done. although not enough of them. BUT they are kinda new so I bet there are lots more coming. They have cute saying and images...what I would call Sassy Lassy kinda stuff more than cute like teddy bears and bunnies.

I bought some wonderful little stamps for what I call girlfriend cards...cards I send my special girlfriends to say hey, let's do drinks or coffee or a little mid-day nosh. I will make some of these and post the pics. You'll love the stuff I picked up!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...I may take a special trip down this way...I did pass some shops that appeal to my shabby chic interior design style that I will need to stop in to see...I think one was called Hollywood Mirror. It looked like goo-gobs of fun!

Precious Memories -- Morton Grove

At first I wasn't so sure about this joint. It's in a long strip mall right on Golf Road. The location isn't great for Morton Grove. There are lots of cute areas in Morton Grove and this is not one of them.

But once in the store I was ready to shop! The paper is wonderful, although expensive. I bought 15 sheets of patterned paper and spent $14.36. Now, I know...I bought several peices of K&Co, plus some Laura Ashley and a few Creative IMAGINATIONS...but that still alot on a per sheet basis.

But you should know me by now...if I haven't seen it online or here in the Twin Cities I buy it because I may not see it again for a very long time!

The store offers classes and has a huge selection of Bazzill paper in several sizes. The samples on the walls were pretty cool as well. This is a really nice store for scrapbookers or stampers looking for patterened paper. I saw several items I haven't seen before...like the small ink cubes by Bazzill Basics. They come three to a pack and cut across a single color range. They were $7...not too bad!

The owner was very, very nice and I signed up for there frequent shopper card. Even though I won't get there often, I know I will be back and ready to stock up!

Nickelby's -- Long Grove, IL

Long Grove is a quaint village area located about 30 miles northwest of Chicago. Its cute but old. The shops are in little houses and that element give the village a certain charm! It used to be very she-she-upscale, but its gotten older and it shows.

This is a nice diversion on a warm spring or summer day and in the fall they spruce it up nicely with twinkle lights and such, but if the weather is not cooperating -- this could be a not-so-pleasant trip.

Nickelby's is a small store with a decent selection of stamps and stamping supplies. The samples are nice, but won't knock you're socks off -- although there were a few cards I had to take a closer look at...they were really different.

They have dry embossing plates and some embellishments...a bit of paper too. This is another shop that I would visit if I am in the area, but its not worth the traffic if I have to come from farther than 20 mins -- unless you want to spend the day looking in ALL of the quaint shops and I do like to do that from time to time...so it stays on my favorites list.
