I have been traveling a lot recently and carrying my hardcover journal was becoming a pain in the shoulder (laptop + journal + laptop cord + girly stuff = 8.4 pounds!!!) So I began creating these handmade journals from the clean up paper I cover my worktable with. These tend to end up just slightly larger than 8.5x11 and include at least one large envelope for stashing interesting things. The journal lines are colored masking or duct tape. I write on them with Sharpies…and to ensure the masking tape stays put, I usually collage over them at the ends/corners. (Duct tape won't ever lift from paper without a ripping so no need to reinforce it!) I am having great fun working on these journals and am willing to swap with anyone that wants to try their hand at making one.
