In the past 60 days a lot of bad stuff has been happening to my family, but I think the tide is turning!

I am in Chicago for my grandmother’s memorial service and have decided to stay here for a couple of weeks to spend time with my family. I am working on a few projects to memorialize her in my art, but for now…that’s all I can say without wanting to cry. My brother is ok, but going through radiation. That too is still very raw for me…but art is a wonderful shelter during the storms of life. I guess I’m doing fine because while all the bad was whirling around me, I a way to focus on the bigger picture and land a new job!

I will be moving to Los Angeles, California at the end of the month. I’m excited and nervous about moving to a new city that is so far outside my comfort zone. If anyone knows someone who has an inexpensive apartment for rent in the Culver City area, please let me know. I’m hoping to spend $1000-1500/month. I don’t need fancy, but I do need something.

In my dreams I see raw, wide-open space. Minimal walls would be fine…but I’m sure that’s a pipe dream for the money I have to spend…but, who knows, maybe someone will come through for me, right?

In the meantime, I’ll be in Chicago until 10/22/06. The 21st I’ll be at the Paper Source warehouse sale downtown. If you’re in the area, you really should consider going to it. Great stuff at great prices! You all know how much I love Paper Source…and now that I know the sale is 2 time/year…I have to go to both even though I don’t NEED anything.

Oh and speaking of shopping…and I’m updating the Out and About area of the blog with the stores I’ve been to since I’ve been in Chi-town so be sure to check it out! I’ll post the pictures when I finally get back to the studio.

So there. That’s the update.
