Calling All Artists That Journal...A Unique Art Call

I am looking for artists who would be interested in do a fun project this summer and fall. I would like to create an art journal group. The idea is simple. Each member will receive a starter packet from me that includes a journal and lots of art journaling supplies. For 15 days you are to journal in the book…write, paint, draw, doodle or some combination of all of them, but after 15 days you must send the book back to me. I will photograph the book, upload the photos to my blog and send the book to the next person in the ring. When the book is full I will send the completed book to the first person on the list, moving down the list as books are completed.

The $15 fee for this endeavor is to discourage people who just feel like this might be fun, but aren’t serious about participating. Each time you get a book, you’ll also receive fun art supplies from me. It will mostly be paper products (to keep shipping costs down), but from time to time it may be a new kind of ink, a set of envelope templates, embellishments or a collage pack. It also covers the cost of the journal you will receive at the end of the swap and postage.

I am looking for committed artists and writers. People who truly enjoy book art, writing, art journaling and mail art; those who will commit to journaling at least 10 of the 15 days that they have the book and who will send the books back to me in a timely manner. Before I mail a book out I will send you an email to confirm you have the time to work in a book. I will not mail until I have confirmation from you.

General Guidelines:

1. You may keep the book for 15 days only; my hope is that you work on the book everyday for at least 10 days.

2. Ship the book back to me to be photographed. I will send it to the next person in the group. I will post pictures on my blog of each book, but not the name of the artist. I want you to be able to write anything you want in the book.

3. Do not remove pages from the journal.

4. Keep your artwork as flat, dry and sticky-free as possible.

5. Do not alter the covers.

6. Do not give the book to other artists without speaking to me first…if you will make sure the book comes back, I may be receptive to you handing it off to an artist you know will follow through on the project.

If you are interested in participating in these unique project, please send me an email to: serendipityartist@yahoo.com.
